Routines, Rhythms & Relationships

The New 3 R's

~

A cursory glance into any classroom reveals that teachers are absolute masters of routine. From the moment that the school bell rings until the end of the day, teachers orchestrate the multiple complex threads of the education system into one seamless flow of activity that we call classroom routine. Routines are the support that brings stability to the classroom and the school.

However, have we ever considered the extent to which so many of these routines are based exclusively on ‘getting things done?’

What happens when we bring together these daily routines with a depth of  connection to our inner, personal rhythm? The exclusive focus on external routines leaves who the teacher is completely out of the equation.

Teachers bringing the depth of their inner integrity and professionalism to this enormous doing, brings true balance in the classroom.

It is this inner quality of our rhythm that restores harmony within our profession.

When teachers bring their true quality to all that we do, the relationships in the classroom shift from role-based arrangements to ones of endless possibility.

This section explores how these new 3R’s – Routines, Rhythms and Relationships, with all three holding equal value – are an integral part of the true foundation of education.
